- Arhaus is seeking an experienced International Transportation Manager to lead and optimize our global import/export operations. This role is critical to ensuring timely, cost-effective, and efficient delivery of goods from overseas vendors to our U.S. Distribution Centers (DCs) and facilities. As the International Transportation Manager, you will oversee a broad scope of international transportation activities, drive performance, and enhance service across multiple shipping modes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Managing all aspects of international shipments including Ocean (FCL/LCL), Cross-Border FTL, Air Freight, and Small Parcel.
- Leading and mentoring a team, ensuring high performance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Monitoring transportation performance through KPIs, reporting, and analytics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Managing weekly carrier allocation utilization and monthly KPI reports.
- Managing freight budgets, invoice audits, and resolving payment disputes.
- Manage cargo loss claim with carriers.
- Performing weekly / monthly landed cost audit and reports.
- Overseeing carrier allocations, cargo claims, Customs compliance, and container yard movements.
- Ensuring on-time delivery through proactive exception management and vendor and buying agent coordination.
- Managing dray carriers for pickup / delivery, container yard movements and weekly demurrage/detention.
- Developing and maintaining SOPs and transportation documentation.
- Staying informed on global market trends and recommending solutions to enhance operations.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in international transportation, logistics, or supply chain, with hands-on experience managing NVOCC/BCO contracts and freight forwarders.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing international carrier relationships and contracts.
- Strong knowledge of INCOTERMS and international shipping regulations.
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing direct reports.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights to leadership.
- Experience with contract negotiation and freight cost management.
- Proficient with IT software and systems: Microsoft Office, especially Excel and preferable SAP / Storis.
